Actos (Pioglitazone)
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning about the diabetes drug pioglitazone, marketed as Actos. This is an diabetes medicine taken orally which can lead to an increased risk of bladder cancer (especially in patient taking for a year or longer). This medication was sold underthe names, Actos, ActoplusMet, Competact and Duetact.
Some symptoms of Actos-related bladder cancer may include:
- Frequent and or painful urination
- Blood in urine, (sometimes changing color in urine)
- Urinary tract infection
